a calm new tab.

dashi is a Chrome extension for your computer. The live demo needs a bigger screen — the widget tour below works fine right here.

Widgets

History

Chrome’s history, with the controls it never gave you.

  • Search weeks or months at once, then delete everything that matched — not just the first page of results.
  • Auto-delete rules: name a site, a word in the address, or a word in the title, and matching visits are gone the moment they happen.
  • Off the record stops history being written at all — without the incognito tax of being logged out of everything.
  • Every rule is previewed before it exists, because deleting has no undo.
  • Hidden by default, so a widget about your browsing isn’t broadcasting it.

More features

Quick links

Pin links to the top bar. Drag to reorder, rename, or switch to icon-only mode.

Pages

Multiple dashboards with sliding transitions.

Per-screen layouts

Every display remembers its own arrangement. Plug your laptop into the big monitor and each keeps the layout you gave it — nothing scrambles.

Off the record

Stops history being written at all, for an hour or until you say otherwise — without the incognito tax of being signed out of everything. Reachable from the toolbar on any page, so you can flip it on the page you’re already on.

Focus mode

Blocks the sites you choose until you turn it off or a focus session ends.

Keep awake

A top-bar switch that stops your computer, or just the screen, from sleeping. Set a timer or leave it on.

Tab Janitor

Closes duplicate tabs and tabs left untouched for days.

Tab Freezer

Unloads unused tabs from memory without closing them.

Floating windows

Pops a note or the timer into an always-on-top window.

1%

Smaller than a single photo.

Most new-tab extensions ship megabytes of stock photos and video — dashi is about 1% of their size. It ships none of that, and it loads a widget’s code only when you add the widget. Open a tab and it is already there.

0 trackers

No analytics, no telemetry, no error reporting. Not even anonymous counts.

0 servers

There is no dashi backend. Nothing to phone home to, nothing to go down.

1 request

However many tabs you have open, they share a single data refresh between them.

Nothing leaves your computer.
