Nothing to hide, because nothing leaves.

Effective July 2026. dashi is a product of Mirical LLC. This policy describes exactly what dashi does with your information. The short version: there is no “your information” here to speak of.

The short version. dashi has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Everything you make with it stays on your computer. We could not see your data if we wanted to: there is nowhere for it to go.

What we collect

Nothing. dashi does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, usage data, or browsing history. There is no telemetry of any kind, not even anonymous counts.

Where your data lives

Everything the dashboard stores lives in Chrome’s own storage on your device:

DataWhere it is keptEver leaves your device?
Notes, to-dos, reading list, habits, countdowns, remindersChrome local storage, with a copy in Chrome sync storage so they follow you between computersOnly through Chrome Sync, a Google feature, not ours
Layout, preferences, quick linksChrome sync storage (managed by Google Chrome)Only through Chrome Sync, a Google feature, not ours
Location Spoof rules, per-site volume settingsChrome sync storageOnly through Chrome Sync, a Google feature, not ours
Reading list articles (offline bodies, images)IndexedDB on your deviceNo
Workspaces (saved tabs)Chrome local storageNo
History rules and the count of what they removedChrome local storageNo — deliberately, so a list of sites you would rather not keep never roams
Recent snapshots, so an accidental delete can be undoneChrome local storageNo
Backup files (optional, off by default)Your own Downloads folder, in a dashi folderNo — they are written to your disk and go nowhere else
Watchlist API key (optional, yours)Chrome local storageOnly to the market-data provider you chose

Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it, apart from any backup files you asked it to save — those are yours, and removing them is up to you.

Network requests

dashi is offline-first and makes no requests to any server we operate. A few optional widgets fetch public data, directly from your browser to the provider:

WidgetProviderWhat is sent
WeatherOpen-MeteoCoordinates of the locations you save, nothing else
CryptoCoinGeckoThe coin ids you follow, nothing else
Watchlist (optional)Finnhub or Alpaca: your choice, your keyYour symbols and your own API key

The search bar sends nothing to us: pressing Enter navigates your own browser to the engine or site you picked, exactly as typing in the address bar would, and dashi keeps no record of what you searched. Favicons come from Chrome’s local cache and are never fetched from the network. Article text for the reading list is fetched only when you explicitly save or open an article. AI summaries run entirely on Chrome’s built-in on-device model; no text ever leaves the machine.

Permissions, in plain language

PermissionWhy it is needed

Tabs, sessions & tab groups (optional)Workspaces (save and restore windows, including their tab groups) and Tab Janitor (duplicates, stale tabs). Requested when you use them
History (optional)The History widget, and Off the record. Used to read, search and delete your own history on this machine, and to remove matching visits as they happen. Requested when you add the widget or turn the mode on
Downloads (optional)Writing automatic backup files to your Downloads folder, and nothing else. Requested inside the click that turns backups on, and handed straight back if you turn them off
SearchRunning a search you typed in the dashboard through the default engine you chose in Chrome, rather than a search engine we picked for you
PowerKeep Awake: asking the system not to sleep while it is switched on
topSites & faviconSeeding quick links from your existing top sites, once, using Chrome’s local cache
contextMenus, scripting, activeTab“Save to dashi” on right-click, extracting article text from pages you choose
declarativeNetRequestFocus Shield: redirecting your blocklisted sites to a quiet blocked page while it is on
system.cpu, system.memoryThe little system readout in the top bar
unlimitedStorageOffline article bodies and images
Host access (optional)Requested per-site, only when you save an article there, boost that site’s volume, give it a spoofed location, or enable Focus Shield’s redirect. Never granted broadly

Third parties

None beyond the public data providers above. No advertisers, no analytics companies, no data brokers. We do not sell or share data, because we do not have data.

Children

dashi collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the change ships in the extension and on this page before it takes effect. There will never be a version of dashi that phones home.
